Big Country - The Journey

Description

I understand this is not what you'd expect from me. But please hear me out.
As some of you may or may not know. My name is Bruce Watson. My father, also named Bruce Watson, is the lead guitarist in the Scottish Rock group Big Country. I've watched this man age gracefully from the long-haired maverick to the middle-aged cool-headed person he is today. One thing that has remained consistent throughout his life is the quality he strives for when it comes to his music and what he wants done for it. of course, this album, The Journey is the first real album done by Dad and the band in about 14 years. During that time we've seen the untimely death of one Band Member, Stuart Adamson and departure of Bassist Tony Butler. Now joining the band are Mike Peters (The Alarm), Derek Forbes (Simple Minds) and finally my Father's other son and my extremely talented brother, Jamie Watson. All of these new additions to the band, while I admittedly felt cautious at first as I never took too well personally to new things. But when I watched this unusually fresh combination of minds meld together to reproduce the band's older works, I was in awe. I think Mike, Derek and Jamie know that they cannot replace those whom we've lost, but can definitely offer a more-than-viable alternative to something that still is so big amongst music fans worldwide. Suffice to say, I think they're amazing.

So why am I uploading an album cover?
I made it. It's MY design. And because for the first time, I've used my skills to create something on an industrial level I feel very proud of myself. And this isn't one of those random one-offs you'd expect to be found being sold in bulk at some event on CDRs with their nasty burn marks on the reverse side. These are legitimate albums, Gold master and all, digipaks, lyric booklets etc (also made by myself but not pictured) These are being sold on store shelves and digital distribution servies such as iTunes and Amazon as of April 8th 2013. I worked alongside Cherry Red Records and Big Country to create something simple, yet eye-catching to fans old and new. And I think despite a few snags, I accomplished this successfully. Because of this, I feel this is my album as much as the musicians behind the tracks. Its a great honour to work with people so talented.

Admittedly, the image you are seeing above is a scan of my personal sealed copy. For legal reasons I can't disclose the original digital piece anywhere. So I hope a grainier, watermarked image is alright.

So yes, as I said, this is not what you'd expect from me. A one off, if you will. But despite its simplicity compared to the pictures I normally draw, I think this has accomplished so much more than everything else I've ever put up here, combined. I hope you guys appreciate and understand where I'm coming from.

If you are interested in purchasing the album, please take a look. I'd be really appreciative. You can find it at the following links. If you buy a physical copy, you'll find me credited in the little booklet.
